A few years ago, B was the most demanded cup size, but now the trend is more towards a C cup. In practice, women's wishes and ideas are very different. While one woman feels comfortable with a natural-looking B-C cup, another dreams of significantly more volume. It is important to have a detailed consultation in which the desired and appropriate size and shape can be found out together with your specialist. Life circumstances should also be included in the decision, as well as individual physical conditions - including how wide the back is (a wider back is more likely to recommend a larger implant), how much fatty tissue is present and how elastic the connective tissue is.

Breast enlargements with implants under the muscle have a low risk of developing capsular fibrosis. This is when a hardened connective tissue-like capsule forms around the implant, which can be painful and deforms the breast - and can only be repaired by replacing the implant. No wrinkles or furrows ("rippling") are visible under the muscle, which can occur when the arm is moved. The bust also looks more natural and feels softer when the implant is under the pectoral muscle. Disadvantage: The rather strong muscle limits the size of the implant. And when the upper body moves, the implant may temporarily shift visibly. However, this applies mainly to women who are very active in sports.

If the implants in breast enlargements are above the pectoral muscle, the volume can be significantly larger. Women with weak connective tissue and a lot of soft tissue offer an optimal embedding for the implant - and very beautiful results. This position is also often better for athletic women who want to avoid implant deformations caused by muscle contraction. Disadvantage: deformations tend to be more easily visible from the outside. However, with adequate soft tissue encasement, implant deformity can also be adequately concealed. Implants positioned over the muscle, especially very large and shaping ones, are somewhat more palpable - however, the viscosity of implants has improved so much within the past few years that positioning over the muscle is very popular.

For cancer screening: conventional mammography can poorly visualize about 4 percent of breast tissue after breast enlargement with implants - with the consequence that more images of the breast must be taken during a screening examination. Ultrasound examination or an MRI offer a useful alternative here, with more accurate results.

A more or less strong feeling of tension in the first days after the procedure is completely normal. Severe pain occurs less frequently. A good painkiller and decongestant measures help against this. The scar is covered with a waterproof plaster - therefore you can shower again after just one day.

Depending on the activity, you should be prepared to be unable to work for between 7 and 14 days and avoid physical stress. The healing process varies in duration. As a rule, the breast is only fully resilient again after six to twelve weeks.

The correct behavior after the operation makes an immensely important contribution to the healing process and thus has a decisive influence on the result!

The most important thing: Use all postoperative appointments at the HANSEATICUM for check-ups and wound care, so that any complications can be detected and treated early. Pay attention to whether your breast hardens, changes position, changes color or temperature. Pain, post-operative bleeding and loss of sensation are serious signals that occur very rarely, but should be reported to the specialist immediately.

If possible, refrain from cigarettes and the consumption of alcohol for two weeks after a breast enlargement in order not to disturb the wound healing process.

Be sure to leave the removal of the dressing and drains to your specialist!

During the first days, a support bandage prevents the implants from slipping. Afterwards, a special bra is recommended: for 6 weeks day and night, then another 6 weeks during the night and during sports. Be sure to leave the applied bra in place. Do not change anything about the individual fit that your doctor has set.

Arm movements are uncomfortable at first. The following applies for the first six weeks: no supporting movements of the arms, no fast stretching movements upwards, no heavy lifting - only moderate movements. Scar care with special oil products or silicone patches is recommended. The surgical scars should be protected from direct sunlight for about 6 months.

This varies greatly from individual to individual and also depends on the type of sport and breast augmentation. Usually after 6 to 10 weeks at the earliest, because the healing process is different for every woman. In any case, talk to your specialist before you start jogging again or want to go to the gym.

Especially for breast enlargement there are strong price differences in Germany and also in comparison to other countries. Doctors are bound by the scale of fees (GoÄ) and must charge accordingly. A not insignificant cost factor in breast enlargement should be the implant. Implants with approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are significantly more expensive. A responsible doctor who vouches for the surgery with his name will not offer you a cheap implant. Medicine must be safe and safety has its price. Cheap offers should be checked for seriousness.

For a long time, there was a rumor that breast implants had to be replaced every 10 years. This is wrong, as a study by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also showed. Modern implants cannot leak, have no expiration date and can therefore last a lifetime - also depending on the individual lifestyle. In some cases, more severe capsule formation or changes in the shape of the breast may make replacement necessary.
