BREAST SURGERY IN HAMBURG: IN GREAT SHAPE!

The shape or size of their breasts concerns many women - and increasingly men too. Mostly aesthetic reasons are behind the desire for a corrective procedure and in some cases a surgical intervention is necessary for health reasons. The majority of men who come to the HANSEATICUM to plan breast surgery in Hamburg suffer from gynaecomastia. The phenomenon of an enlarged, feminine-looking male breast can be genetically determined, symptomatic of an imbalanced hormone balance, an illness or an unhealthy lifestyle. Women usually inform themselves about the possibilities of breast enlargement in Hamburg. The operation is one of the most common procedures in plastic aesthetic surgery and is also one of the standards in the practice of Dr. med Cornelius Grüber and Dr. med Sonja Tomschik.

Anyone planning breast surgery in Hamburg is in the best hands at the HANSEATICUM. With the highest professional competence, years of experience, safe and sophisticated technologies, the specialists for plastic and aesthetic surgery achieve the best results. In a personal consultation, they plan the surgical procedure together with their patients, explain in detail all the possibilities and risks and, if desired, are happy to show before-and-after pictures from their extensive archive.

IMPLANTS OR AUTOLOGOUS FAT? BREAST SURGERY IN HAMBURG

The majority of women still opt for breast augmentation with implants, but breast augmentation with autologous fat is definitely gaining in popularity. "The so-called lipotransfer to enlarge the breast is ideal for women who want a discreet, particularly natural-looking result or who want to compensate for asymmetry," says Dr Sonja Tomschik, who also successfully uses autologous fat for reconstructive surgery after breast cancer. The body's own filler material is removed from excess fat deposits on the abdomen, hips or thighs with liposuction and injected directly into the breast, where it mostly grows in permanently. As only small punctures are necessary for the cannula, no scars remain - similar to breast augmentation with the Los DelineTM filler. The gel-like substance is injected into the tissue with a blunt needle. Unlike autologous fat, however, Los DelineTM is gradually broken down by the body.

BREAST SURGERY FOR TIGHTENING AND REDUCTION

Severe weight loss after dieting or pregnancy, hormonal changes during the menopause and the normal ageing process cause the tissue to sag, which naturally affects the shape of the breast. In a pure breast lift, the breast is lifted at the skin level, excess is removed, the nipples are possibly moved, tissue is not removed in the process. Therefore, the plastic aesthetic specialists at the HANSEATICUM usually combine a breast lift with a reduction. The chosen incision depends on the findings of the breast and the volume of the tissue to be removed. Ideal for women with larger excess tissue is the "inner bra" method, which gives the breast extra support and a beautiful shape. A breast lift can of course also be combined with a breast augmentation.

THE NIPPLE CORRECTION

The proportions of the nipples or areolas contribute decisively to the harmonious appearance of the breasts. Their position, colour and shape are genetically determined, but can change over the years. In women, this is often the case after pregnancy or major weight loss. Candidates for nipple surgery also include men with unevenly shaped or overly large nipples that can rub uncomfortably against clothing or be visible through T-shirts, blouses and shirts.

Frequently asked questions about breast surgery

What does breast surgery cost?

The costs for breast surgery can vary greatly - within Germany and especially in comparison to offers from abroad. Particularly in the case of breast augmentation, the price differences are often serious. But there are also significant price differences for breast lifts and breast reductions. Qualified, practising doctors and clinics in Germany are bound by the scale of fees (GoÄ) and must charge accordingly. Commercial enterprises with salaried doctors and foreign providers, on the other hand, can entice patients with prices that deviate from the scale of fees. In the case of breast augmentation, the implants are another important cost factor. Implants with CE or FDA approval can be up to 1000 euros more expensive than cheap implants. However, anyone planning a breast operation should always ask themselves whether it is worth saving money at any price when making such an important decision. Plastic aesthetic surgery must be safe and safety has its price. A breast augmentation with quality implants costs - including hospital stay - from 5000 euros. Augmentation with autologous fat starts at 4500 Euros and with the Los DelineTM filler the procedure costs from 3500 Euros. In the case of breast reductions with medical indication and reconstructive operations after breast cancer surgery, the costs are covered by the health insurance. Dr Cornelius Grüber and Dr Sonja Tomschik will be happy to answer all your questions and advise you in detail - also about the possibility of financing.

How long is the tissue swollen after breast surgery?

The healing process is a highly individual matter. Experience shows that the swelling of the breasts reaches its peak after 3 to 5 days. Sometimes one breast is much more swollen than the other. However, this will disappear over time. The swelling should disappear completely after 6 weeks at the latest. In order to be able to recognise and treat possible disturbances or complications in the wound healing process at an early stage, we arrange follow-up appointments with you.

When does the breast descend after the operation?

After a breast augmentation with implants, the breasts are taut and firm for a few weeks. Gradually, the shape and firmness change and the implants sink. It can take a year until the final result. But: As soon as you have the feeling that a breast does not relax at all or curves downwards and the nipple points downwards as a result, you should contact your attending doctor for plastic and aesthetic surgery.

How long do you have to stay in hospital after breast surgery?

The hospital stay for breast operations always depends on the extent of the operation. In principle, we recommend an inpatient stay of 1 to 2 days for breast augmentations with implants and for breast reductions performed under general anaesthesia. After outpatient procedures such as breast lifts, nipple corrections and gynaecomastia operations, patients can usually be discharged home on the same day.

How long is one unable to work after breast surgery?

After a breast reduction, breast lift or breast augmentation with implants, you can usually go back to work after one week. In the case of augmentation with autologous fat or Los DelineTM , as well as after nipple correction or gynaecomastia operations, the downtime is usually only 1 to 2 days.

Is mammography possible with breast implants?

Classic silicone implants can make mammography difficult because the breast tissue near the implant often cannot be sufficiently compressed. However, there are now examination methods that are adapted to implants. If the images are still not clear, a supplementary examination may be necessary. Many patients are concerned that their breast implants may be damaged during the mammogram. This risk can be avoided by setting the compression slightly lower. In any case, you should inform the specialist staff about your breast implants and ideally bring the implant passport or the corresponding doctor's report with you to the examination.
